The Rummage Rescuers are a fantastic community. People travel from far and wide to donate quality goods and volunteer their time to support others. Walk this way to find household items. From furniture to fashion, sofas to school uniforms, there are budget items for everyone in Blackburn with Darwen.

For more than a year now, we have all faced a global crisis with Covid-19 hurting the people closest to us in more ways than we can imagine. The pandemic not just attacked us physically but closed down businesses and put people financially on the edge. In the face of adversity, Rummage Rescuers and local organisations came together.

Everyone can take pride in the contribution they bring. When disaster strikes, the Rummage Rescuers are front and centre supporting the vulnerable. By opening up resources and knowledge during a crisis, families are kept safe and given a chance to prosper.

With the support of partner organisations, funding and donations, Rummage Rescuers adapted services, created new ways to raise money through mystery bags and whenever possible, gave away household goods for as little as possible. Rummage Rescuers connect people to trusted services.

A year into the pandemic, a major fire on Worcester Road Blackburn left several families with nothing and nowhere to go. The local community banded together once again, offering aid and donations where possible. The Rummage Rescuers witnessed the community support first-hand, as phones rang all day with offers of furniture, clothes, school uniforms, food and cash for those affected.

By coordinating relief efforts and managing the resources available, the wider community and people are assured of practical assistance. Because of this, we continue to work hard at Rummage Rescuers so that no matter what happens, we’re ready to help.
