A KICKSTART WITH THE TEAM!

A KICKSTART WITH THE TEAM!

Via partnership work with Blackburn with Darwen Help Hub, Rummage Rescuers distributed a mixture of new and pre-loved goods worth £98,000 in the first twelve months of the pandemic.

As the financial impact of the pandemic continues in Blackburn with Darwen areas, there are volunteering and job opportunities available.

Every Rummage Rescuer supports the local community. Some bring their skills to improve things in the warehouses, shops, digital sites and social media. Others learn something new. Join Rummage Rescuers for a kickstart with the team!

RE-HOME, RE-USE & RETAIL AT RUMMAGE RESCUERS.

Retail is fun – especially at Rummage Rescuers, where re-home, re-use, and re-purpose goods help our community and the planet too! Quality pre-loved household items offer people what they need at affordable prices.

The community shops and warehouses are hubs for people on a tight budget. Everyone can browse and buy at Rummage Rescuers Mill Hill, Blackburn town centre, Blackburn Canterbury Street and Harrison Street.

Glitz ‘n’ Glam and the Harrison Street warehouse retail slightly higher-priced items to raise much-needed funds. There are brand new with tag items, pre-loved, retro, vintage clothing and resources.

The warehouse teams manage donations from generous individuals, organise collections and van deliveries. A vital warehouse team role is helping local people in crises. People choose what they need freely, on referral from social workers and local organisations.

KICKSTART GATEWAY.

Are you are a young person who qualifies for the Government funded Kickstart Scheme? Rummage Rescuers are an approved Kickstart Gateway job provider for 16 to 24-year-olds on Universal Credit.

Rummage Rescuers are supporting kickstart by providing a warehouses operative and social media assistant placement for 25 hours a week for a total of 6 months. Successful candidates can expect to receive 100% of the National Minimum Wage (or the National Living Wage depending on age) for six months.

If you are not eligible for kickstart funding, you can join Rummage Rescuers as a volunteer.

WHY VOLUNTEER?

Meeting people and making friends is rewarding when the group have a common purpose. Rummage Rescuers volunteers don’t have specific educational or professional qualifications. A desire to help people in the Blackburn with Darwen community is what’s required.

Volunteers love to bring hope. Hope that the budget will stretch further. Hope that there will be a friendly face willing to help. Hope that situations can improve.

Volunteers gain new skills from others and accredited e-learning training courses available from Blackburn with Darwen Adult Learning. Tailored on-the-job training offers the skills required by employers. New experiences open up opportunities for job prospects.
